In The Arms Of My Big Nurse

The Louvin Brothers - Satan is Real (1959)
I first heard the title track from this album years ago on Cerys Matthews’ BBC 6Music show. I was aware of the cover art for this record but never thought to explore the music itself.
I love this album, and although there is a very strong Christian theme, it somehow doesn’t come across too preachy (which I know is hard to believe). The Louvin Brothers’ voices are also beautiful. Rivaled only by the Everly Brothers in terms of close harmony ballads. ‘Tragic Songs of Life’ is another amazing Louvin Bros album, and is a little lighter in the God stuff if you ain’t into that kinda thing.
I’m not here to judge, I’m here to shake my butt.
Everybody now: “Saaatan is reeeeal, working in Spiiirit….”
